Gary Green
My name is Gary Green. I am currently 54 years old. I have had a number of careers in my life. I have been a farmer, a welder, and a machine shop supervisor. I have pumped out manure pits and worked in an ambulance factory and chrome plated hydrolic cylinder parts. I have operated a plastic injection molding machine. I have tried–somewhat unsuccessfully–to be a salesman on several occasions. Finally, I embarked on my present career in mental health. I am essentially a Minnesota farm-boy trying to find some peace of mind.
In addition to all those things I was seriously depressed for over 20 years and am an alcoholic who has been sober for over 18 years.
I have written a book called “In Pursuit of Joy”. This book offers a hopeful message by discussing the lessons I learned while recovering from depression and alcoholism and over 15 years helping others with their recovery. In Pursuit of Joy discusses mental health and spirituality in a logical and common-sense way that makes the point that mental health is everybody’s business.
